The Secret To Growing A Perfect Beard
I’m not going to claim to have the secret to growing a perfect beard. In fact, I highly doubt there is a secret to growing a perfect beard. But there are steps you can take that will ensure your beard is healthy and looking good.
Stop shaving! This may sound simple enough, but it takes a bit of discipline and patience. You’ll look “scruffy” at first, and feel itchy. You may become frustrated and simply want to shave it all off. Don’t! Trust me, the feeling will pass.
After a bit of time has passed you’ll want to be begin shaping and grooming. I would suggest shaving the hairs off of your neck. There is a natural line that begins just below your jaw bone, and circles downwards towards your Adam’s Apple. Shave from this line downwards. Don’t use your jawline. Some men will choose to also shave above the area around their cheekbones, to give their beard a natural looking shape.
After a couple of months, it will be time to do some trimming. I would suggest focusing on keeping the sideburns a bit shorter and slowly fading into the beard. The areas around the jaw bones will need some attention as well, to keep the fade looking natural.
At this point it’s just a matter of letting it grow to your desired length, and keeping up on proper maintenance. This includes trimming, shaving the neck area and using proper products to keep the beard healthy – beard shampoo, conditioner and oil.
